Our microsuction ear wax removal service offers a safe, efficient, and pain-free method of wax removal. Unlike traditional methods involving water irrigation, microsuction minimises the risk of infection, making it suitable for patients with perforated or previously perforated eardrums. Using microscopic glasses and medical-grade suction devices, our professionals gently remove ear wax from the ear canal, ensuring clarity of hearing and enhanced well-being.

Our hearing examination is conducted by our experienced Audiologist who will guide you through a thorough assessment, discussing your ear health, hearing priorities, and medical history to tailor our approach to your needs. Using advanced techniques like otoscopy and pure tone audiometry, we’ll assess your hearing thresholds and address any tinnitus symptoms you may be experiencing. Additionally, our speech recognition and noise testing will evaluate your speech clarity. Following the 60 minute examination, you’ll receive personalised recommendations to effectively manage any identified hearing issues. 

Stages of Ear Wax Removal Process

Appointment Preparation

Your ear wax removal appointment is designed to be efficient and comfortable, typically lasting around 20 minutes. However, we allocate ample additional time for each appointment to ensure thorough care. While support from friends or family members is not necessary, you are welcome to bring them along for added comfort.

Initial Assessment

Before proceeding with the treatment, our experienced team will ask you some simple questions to understand your past and present ear health. This is followed by a comprehensive examination of your ear canals to assess the extent of wax build-up and determine the most suitable course of action for safe and comfortable removal.

Procedure Explanation

We believe in transparency and will fully explain the procedure to you before commencing the treatment. You will be briefed on how the process works and what sensations you may experience during the procedure.

Visual Inspection

If, upon inspection, we find no wax present in your ears, we can offer guidance on GP or ENT referral and provide documentation and images of any abnormalities detected during the examination.

Optional Video/Image Viewing

For your peace of mind or curiosity, we offer the option to view video or images of your ear canals before and/or after the wax removal process. Simply let us know if you'd like to see them.

Treatment Commencement

Once you are comfortable and ready to proceed, we will begin the ear wax removal treatment. Throughout the procedure, feel free to ask any questions or raise concerns, and we will address them promptly.

Final Inspection

Upon completion of the treatment, a final inspection will be conducted to ensure all wax has been safely removed, and your ears are healthy in appearance. We will also provide guidance on any necessary post-treatment aftercare.

Continuation Appointment (if required)

In the rare event that we are unable to remove all wax safely in one session, further oiling may be recommended, and a continuation appointment will be scheduled at no additional cost to you.

Additional Information

  • Patients under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Oiling your ears 3-5 days prior to the appointment can help soften the wax for microsuction.

Ear Clinic Opening Hours & Bookings

Currently our Ear Clinic is available every first, second and third Saturday of each calendar month and third Sunday from 9am to 1pm.

Our Ear Wax Removal Service is £70 and our in-depth Hearing Examination is £100, which lasts approximately one hour.
